Crunch Time or Good News Bad News?

The exterior is nearly ready for paint. You can really start to see the design details. The gable on the porches and the cedar shakes. We are still waiting on the front and back doors. So the painters won’t come until they are in and the last bits of siding and trim are installed. Then there is the interior. The kitchen cabinets are running about two weeks behind. That is causing a bit of a log jam on the interior. So we are fingers crossed that the builder can keep all the plates spinning to the finish.

Rain Delay….

Things are moving along. We did have a delay on the siding due to all the rain. They did get started earlier this week and the siding should be finished up today. The ceramic tile has been installed in all three bathrooms and the laundry room. All we need now are cabinets and trim. We are still on “track” for a late September handover. “Mountain Days” soon come.

Inside and Out

We have a whole lot of action going on right now. Both inside and out. The rough ins are done. The drywall is going up and we have siding and trim on site. The installation of the siding should be starting soon. The porches are coming along as well. Mountain Days is really starting to look like a home. It will be very exciting for us to see the house this weekend.

Shingles and stuff

A quick update from yesterday. The shingles are on, meaning we have a roof. The mechanical rough in is nearly complete, including the plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. We did a video walk through with Brian from Brown Haven Homes yesterday. The house is really coming together. The windows are on site and their installation starts today.

Multitasking and Happy Independence Day

This week has been all about Multi Tasking. Or Multi subs. While these pictures may seem a little random they are not. In the first shot we see the shingles on the ridge of the house. The roofers were working out of view but there is a good chance the shingles were installed on Friday. The van in the driveway? That is the HVAC contractor. They started the rough in for the duct work this week. Then you will see rough plumbing and rough electrical. That is all the plastic sticking out of the walls. Some of the framing crew are also still around. That pile of treated lumber will soon be front and back porches. Yep five trades working at the same time, roofers, HVAC, Electrical, and plumbing, and carpenters. We are Definitely picking up speed. A big shout out to Brown Haven Homes and our project manager Brian for making things happen.

A Big Week in Nebo

Front Porch

It has been a pretty exciting week at the house. We have a lot going on and now have momentum on our side. The framing is complete. The plumbing crew and electrical crew have started. We are expecting the roofing crew to be there early to mid-next week depending on the shingle delivery. Seeing the house go from a bare lot to something resembling the drawings is always fun. Sorry about the image quality. I borrowed these pictures from the bank inspector’s completion report. By the way, the bean counters put us at 43% complete.

Busy Week

Walls are up
Welcome Home
Site of the future front door.
Snuggle up to the fireplace
The back porch to be.

We received great news from Brian our project manager from Brown Haven Homes yesterday evening. The framing crew has finished the floor deck and wall framing. The zip system wall sheeting is up and the major joints are taped. The window opens will stay covered until it is time to install the windows and doors.

Trusses are up next. Hopefully by next weekend with weather, framers and suppliers helping us out, we will have a roof system in place. The shape of the house and how it sits on the lot are starting to come together. We have good news about the well. We will share that in another post.

Big changes are coming fast to Mountain Days. The garage floor was poured this past week. The gutter drains are in and the mulching has been done. The first lumber is on site and the framing is set to start this week. The framing is an exciting time. The bones of the house are going to go together really fast.
