We got the Starlink dish installed on the roof today. It now appears to have a phenomenal view of the ski. The speeds speak for themselves. Who wants to work remotely? We will have monthly deals available for the winter months.

We have a few odds and ends left on the house to finish up. Grey Beard Realty will be managing the short-term rentals for us. The house is available for rental starting the weekend before Thanksgiving. You can contact them at https://www.greybeardrentals.com/vacation-rentals/lake-james-vacation-rentals

There has been a ton of work done on the house. We have a CO and we have been staying in the house. Most of our furniture is in. We are testing the Starlink Internet as well.

We got an update from the landscape yesterday evening. The pictures are with a thousand words.

We have been by the house a few times in our travels over the last few weeks. The log jam waiting on the cabinets doors and even Duke energy seem to have been overcome. We now have kitchen cabinets, kitchen counters, vanities, vanity tops and even the interior trim has been installed. While we do not have good pictures the railings and stairs have been installed and the stone columns have been starter. In other words we are down to the wire. Here are some pictures in no particular order. The new handover date is October 20th. Fingers crossed.

The exterior is nearly ready for paint. You can really start to see the design details. The gable on the porches and the cedar shakes. We are still waiting on the front and back doors. So the painters won’t come until they are in and the last bits of siding and trim are installed. Then there is the interior. The kitchen cabinets are running about two weeks behind. That is causing a bit of a log jam on the interior. So we are fingers crossed that the builder can keep all the plates spinning to the finish.

Things are moving along. We did have a delay on the siding due to all the rain. They did get started earlier this week and the siding should be finished up today. The ceramic tile has been installed in all three bathrooms and the laundry room. All we need now are cabinets and trim. We are still on “track” for a late September handover. “Mountain Days” soon come.
It is the last look at the framing. We passed another inspection and the drywall starts on Monday. Things are moving along quickly. Deb and I will have our first site visit in person in August. We are definitely looking forward to seeing the house in person.

The well was installed a few weeks ago and we never got around to talking about it. It appears that we have a very good well. We hit water at 335 feet. They ended up drilling to 365 feet. We have static water at 120 feet and the well is rated for 60 Gallons a Minute. What does all that mean? It means we have plenty of capacity for the house.
